I’ve been searching various support sites and trying different downloads for the last couple of hours.

So to simplify my question; how, or superior yet, WHERE do I write my java script code?

I’m trying to learn to create games in java script, and I can find tutorials for writing script and such, but I do not even know where do begin writing script. Is there some program that I just cannot find? Am I supposed to write the script in notepad or something and then run it with something else?

Help! Thanks.

I have not used JDK, but you should make sure if you are looking to do javascript coding that the JDK is actually helpful with that. Java programming and Javascript programming aren’t the same thing.

If you are trying to do javascript coding for something appearing in a web page, just make a normal text file and go at it. in your html, add

You have to embed the audio file within the HTML code.

My Java is updated but my XP’s world wide web still will not display videos and many websites. Ideas?
My computer/internet has been acting strangely for the past couple of weeks. I can go to Youtube, but the video boxes are blank and they will not play. A lot of websites (facebook, my yahoo email, etc) will have the top line of script, but the rest of the page will be blank. Some sites will let me enter my username and password, but after I press enter, it takes me back to that exact page with the boxes empty again. I just updated my Java (although under world wide web options, it was already enabled) but it still is not working. I am only able to type this via a different computer. Any ideas?

The discussion assignment assumes that we have an earth that is a perfectly round and smooth sphere with a rope going around it at the equator such that it fits very snugly. Your group is to define a JavaScript web site that will prompt for a height of a wall in terms of feet. The program then should compute how many feet must be added to the rope so that if a wall of that height were constructed around the equator, the rope will then snugly fit on top of the wall.

Our group has pondered for days and we cannot even come up with the math equation let alone writing a java script code for it.

Please help with the math and Java!

Here’s all the Java you need:

Now, as for the javascript that you need, that is different. Try the homework yourself first if you want to have any hope of passing the course.

Mathwise: Picture concentric circles. The inner circle is the original earth. The outer circle is the earth plus fence. The difference in RADIUS is the height of the fence. Clue ends here. good luck!

I cannot help with the Java but the maths is simple. Just multiply the height of the wall by 2π.

Proof.
Let the radius of the Earth be r.
The circumference of the Earth is 2πr.
The length of the top of the wall is 2π(r+h).
So the extra length of rope is 2π(r+h) – 2πr = 2πh.

Many people are surprised how tiny difference the height of the wall makes.

That’s all i can think of that would affect it. Depends on what web browser you are using. If you are using Chrome or IE you should be good, Opera will give you the odd error, I do not use safari enough to know what it could cause, and I never liked Mozilla, especially for flash games.
