FILE ORGANISATION FOR WEBSITE?

File organisation for website?
I am new to website design and was wondering if someone could help me. I have used a website template which contained flash, psd files, html files and various other files like images etc.
I have uploaded them all using Filezilla to webshell and organised them in the same sub directories etc as they were on my pc. however the website is still not showing.
Is there a particular way these should be organised in order for the files to show.

I hope that I am making sense with all this lol. Thanks for any help you can give.I just want to know whether the html and psd files and flash should be out of the folders below or how they should be set up.

the directories are as follows.
TOP VIEW
3 folders ; 1. Site 2. Site Flash 3.Source
Inside the Site Folder is all of my html files for each page of the website and one style.css file. (the first page is named index.html which is the Flash intro) and thentwo sub folders – 1. images (Containing all images) 2. Scripts Inside Folder Site Flash is a asp file an php file two html files and a style.css folder. And then there are two sub folders 1. Flash (containing two swf files one for the intro and one main) 2. images (containing all images)
Inside the last file Sources is 3 sub folders 1. Flash containing the fla files and the asp and php file and one html file. 2nd is the fonts file and 3rd is the psd files containing all the psd’s for the site.
Thanks for your swift reply. The website is www.pctech.com.eg . I moved the site file to the root directory and this helped somewhat it opened the site as u will see just the first screen and not the flash intro then when u click the enter button it shows the first screen but none of the text from that i updated in the psd file. I am so confused and so exhausted of this site lol i have read so much and followed things but I guess i just dont have a clue!!!
I have taken off the new website and put back on the old one I had done whilst its under construction until I get the issue resolved.

If your website was running on local host, it should run on server too.
Website link please.
Also might be you should try uploading your Site folder content in your root folder mostly its public_html instead of uploading site folder directly to your root directory.
Also i am pretty sure there is a read me file lying here and there with instructions containing how to upload/use that template. Try to find it and follow instructions, everything thing should work fine.

i have never made a site before. i got my hosting and domain name free. i picked up some script for free and i want to put it on my website. how exactly do i do that. its in a zipped file right now.

First, you need to unzip it by right clicking on the zipped files and selecting extract all. Then you need to upload to the server using an ftp program. I advocate FileZilla. If there is a page in the root directory (top folder) called index than that is the page that will open when you go to your website.

You need to know the variable in the external JS file that holds the background color. That variable needs to have global scope.

Assuming you properly identify the variable with global scope that holds the value, then you can simply reassign its value inb your JavaScript.

You then need to ensure no other functions or statements in the external JS file reassign the value to the background color variable.

right does your current website hosting company grant you to upload and run php files? if not you need to change hosting companys or upgrade your hosting withyour current on that will grant it.

then you easy upload the page usually over ftp using a ftp client like wincsp and your php file will be online.

frequently and iam unable to switch over to other process…

I think it a virus which caused by pen drive…a two day back…when iam facing desktop itself im getting Windows script host error multiple times..how can i solve this issue?

boot.vbs is not a Windows file that I am aware of … .vbs files are Visual Basic Scripting files and might have been loaded by some application you have installed or might be part of a Virus / Trojan hacking attempt … (the other possibility is that it’s part of a customised School (or Company) Domain log-in process ..)

Plainly Windows has been ‘instructed’ to RUN this file at start-up.. either by the Registry or by something in Begin / Programs / Startup …. (check that first)

If it’s not something in the Startup folder, you will have to check the Registry = I recommend using HijackThis to see what is being RUN…

You might want to think about using WinPatrol or similar to prevent future stuff being installed to RUN without your knowledge ..

These days a lot of software tries to ‘run’ at boot-up … this grants them to ‘preload’ themselves for quicker launching .. the downside being that everything that preloads at start-up adds to the already unacceptable begin up delays .. especially if the ‘uninstaller’ ‘forgets’ to remove all the Registry entries and your Computer is trying to RUN stuff that doesn’t exist anymore ..

Other software installs ‘phone home’ components that randomly use your World wide web connection (and can lockup your Computer if the web is down) in order to ‘check for updates’ (or, in the case of Dell Printers, inform Dell of each page you print so Dell can send you junk eMails of the ‘your Printer is nearly out of Ink please click here to be ripped off (pay excessive prices for our ink)’ type…

If your word document contains only text, then you could use notepad to save it. Choose all text, copy it, paste it to notepad, save file as “xxx.sql”. Do not forget the double quotes, by using them you will teach notepad to change the extension of the saved file.
