FREE GAME MAKING SOFTWARE FOR FINAL FANTASY LIKE GAME? (SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY)?

Question by TheFireWithin:
Free game making software for Final Fantasy like game? (serious answers only)?
I was wondering if anyone knew of any good game making software that I could make a final fantasy like game. Could be any FF, FF1, FF12, FF:My Life as a King, any of them really. I just want to make a FF looking game lol so if you could help me out with giving me a link of a site that is free, or if you could email me (just add yahoo to my name and that is my email address) a link to a free but not supposed to be free software, either way, I just would like to be able to get something like that.
Also it would be more helpful if I did not need to know scripts or programming to use the software since… I do not know them. Thanks.
And, please do not answer with anything like “No” or anything that doesn’t help me.
Thanks again.
Okay, then if there are software that needs scripts that can be learned that would not be too difficult then you can state them too.

There’s an entire line of software called RPG Maker that does this. It doesn’t give many options (particularly after they moved to a 3D game engine for it), but it does the job.
But it’s not free. It’s priced right around a regular game.
If you want anything better than that, you’ll need to download Microsoft’s DirectX SDK, buy a C++ compiler, and learn to write C++ code for DirectX. That’s what PC game developers do.

Back when I was in sixth grade, I used to make some RPG games with graphics that hold strong resemblances with FF1-FF6. I used a program known as RPG Maker 2000. Nowadays, there’s a ton of new RPG Makers on the PSX and PS2 and PC. The newest RPG Maker is RPG Maker VX, which has some pretty neat snapshots, but I’ve never tried it myself. From what I recall, RPG Maker 2000 is free (and oldschool), but if you’re interested in 3D gaming, you’ll have to buy the newer versions for about as much as a normal game. With that said, give it a shot if you’re interested in making your own plot and role playing game! Have fun!
